BIOGRAHPHIES and AUTOBIOGRAPHIES

HOMEWORK TASK

We have been looking at Biographies and Autobiographies in class. We have been reading and enjoying extracts from 'Boy' by Roald Dahl and sharing other biographies and autobiographies from home.

Miss Bates and I really want to know who you would want to read an autobiography by or a biography of. Why are you interested in them? Do they inspire you? What are their achievements?

Please add an informative paragraph as a comment to this post.

Hi guys Ethan here,

I would like to read about Richard Hammond because he has a very interesting life story and has witnessed things that people would never imagine of; I admire him for many reasons and love the programmes he is/was on, such as: Brainiac, Total Wipout, Blast lab and my favourite Top gear.
he is a great role model in everything he does. He has inspired me in alot and has shown in a past drag crash about 3 years ago.
He is a great example to everybody. Richard Hammond is who I look up to, in a way at least
Thanks again,
Ethan out!

I would really like to read J.K. Rowlings autobiography because she wrote the Harry Potter series which I really enjoyed reading. The Harry Potter series has sold 400 million copies worldwide and made J. K. Rowling one of the wealthiest people in the world. She inspires me because she wrote the fastest selling fiction book in the world. It is called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and it sold 8.3 million copies in the first 24 hours (or 345,833 books per hour).

Hi everyone,
My favoroute biographies or autobiographies form Tutankhamun because egyption times were very interesting because they are little known. I would know how he really died and if there was a after life. The book would tell me if the tomb really had any curse.

Hannah
PS. Especially the gruesome bits.

Before Yr6 I didn't know what an autobiography, biography was!I have just started reading Frankie Dettori's autobiograhy.Frankie is my neighbour when he lives in Dubai for four months of the year.I have known him for about five years,I probably didn't realise just how famous and successful he really is.I think he is a great jockey he is full of enthusiasm and fun to be around.I am looking forward to finding out how he started his career.I think he had to work very hard to get where he is today,(he left school when he was only 13 years old). Some of his achievements are, winning all 7 races on a race card at Ascot in 1996. He has won the Dubai World Cup 3 times, has been Champion Jockey 3 times and won all the major classics. Katie S

The person I would most want to read an autobiography by or biograpy of is Torah Bright.

Torah is the best female snowboarder in the world, and the best Australian snowboarder.

I particularly like and respect Torah Bright because of her dedication to her chosen sport.

Torah Bright's skills and talent in snowboarding has inspired me to take up the sport of snowboarding.

Torah Bright became Australia's fourth Winter Olympic gold medalist .

She did not do it easily. She fell badly in the first of her two runs and she started the second run in last position.

Her persistence made her the first rider to go down the pipe for the second run.

Despite the pressure and the quick turnaround, she nailed a difficult routine, featuring the jump named the switch backside 720.

This is a backwards entry jump with two full spins. It was the same jump that had caused her fall in the first run.

She had just minutes to recompose herself and dare to try it again. Torah Bright executed the jump flawlessly.

She is the only woman who can do this difficult and complex jump. Some of the top male snowboarders cannot do it.

Torah said afterwards that it had been her plan to win the gold medal for Australia.

I would like to read a biography about Adolf Hitler -

This is because I want to know how and why he became so evil and cruel.
He was the leader of Germany and inspired many Germans. However, soon enough, he became so greedy that he wanted the whole world to fall into his evil clutches. He ordered his armies to invade and fight against many countries. He was the cause of WWII. Eventually, his plans didn't work out and he shot himself in the head. Before that, he had poisoned his own dog.

I would like to read an autobiography of Bear Gryls because I would like to hear about all of his adventures. I am interested in him because he used to be in the British Special Forces and he was trained for survival in extreme conditions. Yes, Bear Gryls inspires me because if you drop him on a remote island or in the middle of the desert he will find a way to civilisation. Bear has broken his back twice and still survived. I think every adventure he has is an achievement.

Cheryl Cole

I have chosen Cheryl Cole for a biography. I bought off my birthday money one of her biographies and although I’ve started it, would like to share why. The X Factor is one of my favourite programmes which Cheryl is a judge on and I really like the way she is caring and thoughtful to the contestants, is a good role model and I also like her style and this is what made me want to learn more about her. Did you know that she started out in a successful girl band called Girls Aloud and they became famous from winning a tv show competition. They had 20 consecutive top 10 hit singles and their greatest hits album sold over one million copies. Cheryl is now a solo artist and her first single ‘Fight for this Love’ was the fastest selling single of 2009 and went into the charts at no1. I said I liked Cheryl’s style and she is a fashion icon appearing on the front covers of magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and in 2009 became the new face of L’Oreal.

Oliver's choice of autobiography
I would like to read an autobiography of Temple Grandin.
I find her very interesting because she has made a huge achievement in her life.
This lady does inspire me because she made animals feel comfortable before they went to be slaughtered and she made a machine that calms animals down.
When I watched temple Grandin thinking in pictures the new movie it was a real inspiration to me.
Temple Grandin has achieved so much, she is a multi millionaire and the most famous person with Autism.
I HIGHLY recommend you all watch her new movie and also an interview 'on the Ted show which you can find on youtube.
