Netball report -by Sophie
Year 6 Netball Match
On the 28th November Yr 5 and 6 had a netball match against DIS.
First Year 5 played and they did great however the score was 3-2 to
them. DIS Just scored on the last minute otherwise it would have been a
draw. But they did there best. Moving on to the Year 6, on the first half the score was 5-1 to us. However on the 2 half DIS scored 2 more and we
scored 3 more. So over all the score was 8-3 to us. We did great! Well done Georgie you scored something like 6 goals. Well done everyone,
Hope fully we will beat EISM next week!!

Amaury's definition of microorganisms from wikipedia
Microorganisms live in all parts of the biosphere where there is liquid water, including soil, hot springs, on the ocean floor, high in the atmosphere and deep inside rocks within the Earth's crust. Microorganisms are critical to nutrient recycling in ecosystems as they act as decomposers. As some microorganisms can fix nitrogen, they are a vital part of the nitrogen cycle, and recent studies indicate that airborne microbes may play a role in precipitation and weather.

I liked this game because you had to take pictures of Lucy the bug and you also learned where microbes lived.
Thank you

Science - Micro-organisms
Our science topic is called "micro-organism". A micro-organism is a tiny living organism that can only be seen with a microscope.
FACT: Did you know that there are more micro-organisms on your hand, than there are people in the whole world?
There are 3 types of micro-organism:
- Fungi
- Bacteria
- Viruses
Some micro-organisms are helpful, others can be harmful.

Georgie's Holiday post
My EID holiday at the JAL hotel Fujairah
On the 13th of November my family and I all went to Fujairah. It toke us an 1hour and 15 minutes to get to the Masafi carpet market where we bought a carpet for our dining room. From there it to us 45minuets to get to the JAL hotel. Firstly we checked in to the hotel and went up to our room. The sofa was so big my brother and I slept head to tail on it.
We spent all afternoon in the pool and sea. In the sea there was this inflatable obstacle course. There was a trampoline in the middle and a plastic long cylinder called the moonwalk. Also there was a climbing wall called the iceberg, what you had to do was climb to the top and slide down the edge. There were also lots of other cool obstacles. Plus we spent a lot of the time in the 3pools. In the evening we went to a restaurant called Breeze (an Italian restaurant) where we had pizzas and pastas. Then finally after a long day we went to bed.
The next day we had a bit of a lie in and went to breakfast at a restaurant called Marco Polo where we had a delicious meal. In the morning we went snorkeling on the breakwater where we saw lots of colourful fish. For lunch we had noodles and vegetables. After lunch we relaxed in the room a bit to let our food settle down. After lunch we swam all afternoon again. In the evening we had roomservice and watched Avatar.
The next day we swam in the morning and the checked out the hotel.
On the way back to Dubai it started raining but when we reached Dubai it had stopped. We had a lovely time at the JAL!
Tom goes round the Burj!
Round the Burj al Arab swim
On Friday 13th November 2010 (-11-17) I swam round the Burj. First of all we (Me and my mum and (spectators) Dad, my brother, Aunt and uncle ) went to Wild Wadi to register or something and get our swim hat; mine was blue because in the competitive race all men or boys had to have blue swim hat and all the women or girls had to wear red swim hats. Once we had signed in we went through the Burj gates onto the beach where the race would start on the way I started to read the safety stuff, in it there were really encouraging things like:
· Warning, do not swim to close the burj itself because there may be sea urchins or other wild life.
· If you need help STAY CALM and wave your arm in the air.
After warm up I was in pre-race mode as you can see in the picture of me sat down.
“PEEP” there goes the whistle I was away, off to a flying start; I stayed at a pretty fast pace all the way through the race. At the end of the race you had to stop swimming and sprint to the finish which was very tiring as you might be after a kilometre swim.
Me at the finish!
Over all I came 16th out of 80 swimmers in the 0-20 years category and out of everyone I came 82nd out of about 480 swimmers. My time was 12mins 20 seconds when most people have a time of about 18 minutes.

EID MUBARAK - End of the first half term of year 6
Eid-ul-Adha is upon us! EID MUBARAK to all of Year 6, families and friends, and everyone else too!
Read more about Eid by clicking this link:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/religion/islam/eid_haj.shtml
We have had an enjoyable and busy (and a long 9 week) half term! We are all ready for our half term holiday and Eid celebrations.
This term so far we have enjoyed the whole school theme of INSIDE OUTSIDE and now are half way through IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC.
Already things like House Captain Presentations back in week 2 seem a long time ago. We have enjoyed great work on Autobiographies and Biographies, Art skills, presenation skills, TOUCHING THE VOID, Beach trip and poems. AVATAR inspired writing is our current brilliant theme.
A brilliant and busy 9 weeks - Well done \Year 6!
Have a great half-term holiday - Eid Mubarak!
